Student Academic Engagement

The University has a duty to ensure students are meeting course, visa, and other requirements as part of their studies. To this end, staff spend hours every month monitoring students’ engagement levels across disparate spreadsheets, and processing those who fall below required thresholds through multiple escalation stages.

Delivery

Collaborating with colleagues across various professional and academic departments, we built a centralised report that integrates multiple complex datasets and reports on student attendance at various grains to meet business needs.

Outcome

Stakeholders have already reported huge time savings from using the new report, which is further helping to ensure that the University remains compliant of its vital visa-issuing powers. Phase two of this project will further support both regulatory and resource needs through the integration of student placement data, the development of an interface through which users can more easily track student escalations, and the automation of attendant communications.
