Personalised Learner Profile

Problem

University survey data showed that students were dissatisfied with the levels of personal engagement they received from their tutors and lecturers. Meanwhile, tutors had many students to keep track of and support, an issue exacerbated by the move online during COVID-19.

Delivery

Integrating multiple University data sources to process millions of rows of data daily, we helped to build the initial pilot version of PLP – a web application that provides students and their tutors with an up-to-date, single pane of glass overview of who they are and how they are engaging with their studies.

Outcome

By surfacing student ID photos, study details, attendance records, assessment scores, and engagement with video materials, the PLP helped to ensure that students felt seen, while enabling staff to target support at students in need, during a time when traditional lines of communication became suddenly unavailable. Today, the production version of PLP is accessed by thousands of staff and students each week.
