Exam Register Digitisation

Problem

During exam periods, staff manually collect and input data for thousands of attendance slips. The process is laborious, time-consuming, and prone to human error.

Delivery

Using a custom-built generative AI Content Understanding model, we built a tool that takes scans of paper exam registers, automatically extracts the attendance data for each student, and uploads it to a database, before visualising it in a PowerBI dashboard.

Outcome

The workflow is highly accurate and demonstrates the wider value of AI tools outside of the LLMs currently dominating the headlines. The tool is currently going into its pilot phase and is expected to make huge time savings for the University.
